Why You Should Feel Gratitude & How To Bring It Into Your Life

I tend to feel melancholic at times. Sometimes it hits very hard. But then I look at my life and think of all the good things. Even the smallest of things that bring me joy. Today I feel like sharing this with you guys, and to inspire to look at your own life with gratitude, even in (these) harsh times.

GRATITUDE [ grat-i-tood, tyood ]

noun the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful.

This past year has been pretty rough for me. After some time I learned who I was, I got up from my dark place, and embraced who I am. I succeeded. That I am grateful for.

Getting a closer relationship with my family. After my move to Copenhagen, I now live closer to my family and we visit each other as often as we can which I am grateful for.

I’m grateful for my move to Copenhagen. Having both a great job but also a place to bring me joy and calm.

Having the ability to feel joy in the small things like my coffee in the morning, making pancakes when I feel like it, the beauty of nature, the sound of rain, feeling the breeze on my face, and grateful for having a healthy family and friends.

What you can do to feel more gratitude towards life

  • Wake up in the morning with a positive mindset – Change your stressful alarm to a calming alarm tone such as birds chirping or serene music.
  • Stop negativity, focus on positivity – Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Being in a negative state will keep you there, so try to think differently when you feel down. Like “I feel awful now, but I know everything will be better, and I will be okay again”.
  • Journaling your thoughts – If you can’t share how you feel to people around you, write it down in your notebook. You can reflect on your life through journaling with both positive and bad feelings. Write down things that you’re good at, compliment yourself.
  • Be nice to yourself – Do things that make you happy, learn to say no, treat yourself, be with kind-hearted people.
