Coronavirus is affecting all of us and staying home most of the day can be very boring. Therefore, I give you 5 things to do, while being in quarantine for COVID-19.

THESE ARE THE THINGS YOU CAN DO

SKYPE OR CALL A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER WHO LIVES IN ANOTHER COUNTRY OR TOO FAR AWAY FROM YOU

My sister lives in Germany and we don’t see each other that often, but yesterday my sister and I decided to watch a movie together. We found a movie, started the movie at the same time, and we’re having our video Skype turned on, so we could see each other while watching the movie. I know, it sounds a bit weird. But it actually felt like we were in the same room, and if we wanted to make a short comment about the movie, we turned the sound on at our Skype shortly, so the other person could hear it. I think it’s a really good idea. I would never Skype a friend who lived nearby me, but during this corona crisis, you have the time to connect with people far away from you, who you normally don’t spend that much time with. You can also call your grandmother, asking how she’s doing. Sometimes we forget to talk with the people close to us because we’re busy living our own life with a job, house, children, education, partner, and sport. So, call someone close to you, who you seem to forget in your busy day. My grandmother was so happy to hear from me when I called her since she spends most of her time alone. And it only takes a phone call. You don’t even need to travel or anything.

TEACH YOURSELF A NEW ABILITY OR SKILLSET

Did you always want to learn how to play the guitar? Learn to speak a new language or get better at Photoshop? Now you finally got the time and everything is available on the internet now, so there are no excuses. You can test your patience, and show off your new skill to your friends or your boss after the corona crisis.

HOUSECLEANING AND/OR TIDY YOUR ROOM

Duties call! Take advantage of the situation and clean your house or apartment, since you’re probably avoiding it on a regular basis. It’s a boring tough job, but imagine how satisfied you would be when the job is done. You can also go through your things and make a new system, so you can find your things easily. E.g. all keys are here, and my books are in this box… We all need to tidy our rooms once in a while.

BE CREATIVE

Find a cozy corner, sit down and paint, draw, sew, knit or take some pictures for your CV, LinkedIn or just to have that one good picture with your new dress, as I did. I love to sew, draw and take pictures. But I don’t have time for it on a daily basis. Lately, I have been sewing sweaters for my cute Chihuahua, and taking pictures for blogging and my CV and job application. I have also finished a drawing of a Japanese demon, that had been laying in my drawer for quite a while.

COOK NEW RECIPES OR READ BOOKS YOU HAVEN’T READ YET

Are you cooking the same food every day like me? Well, now you have the time to find some interesting cooking recipes and try them out! Be creative and be brave and cook some dishes that take some time to make or are a bit difficult, since you now have all the time you need. Reading that book, you have had for several years but never read, which is a great possibility. You can also buy new books, and escape into the story.

If you have any good ideas to entertain yourself when you’re at home, please share and comment down below.
