THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU’RE HAVING A BAD DAY

on
januar 20, 2019

Life has its ups and downs. People react and process differently when it comes to having a bad day(s). I am one of those people that want to spend time alone with a movie or binge-watch a series. My energy is so low after a bad day, so I usually need to spend the rest of the day on the sofa, recharging and completely forget the day. But we all have our special ways of dealing with a bad day. I’ve asked two of my good friends what the case is when it comes to them.

Patricia needs to engage in activities or be surrounded by friends. Something that can lead her thoughts to something else. Going to the gym is also a great way of leading your negative thoughts somewhere else, and another plus is the extra exercise.

Annika likes to pamper herself by taking a long bath or do the things that really makes her feel happy like being creative by drawing or go for a long walk.

So I’ve created a small list from my own experience and with inspiration from my friends, of things that really help on the bad days. Check it out below.

6 THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU’RE FEELING DOWN:
watch movies/series

I have a tendency to watch rom-com, feel-good movies whenever I feel down. And it’s always something I watch when I’m alone. It’s my own comfortable way to feel better and get in a better mood. So here is a list of movies I watch on bad days:

  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Notting Hill
  • Begin Again
  • Bridget Jones
  • Harry Potter
  • It’s Complicated
  • The Holiday
  • To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
work out/exercise

When working out, your body releases endorphins that prevent pain and produces a feeling of euphoria which is the experience of pleasure or excitement and intense feeling of well-being and happiness.

spend time with loved ones

The close people in your life know exactly what makes you happy. Talk to them about the things that make you feel sad and get the comfort you need.

have chocolate

There’s always a good reason to have chocolate. Specifically, dark chocolate with 70% or higher cocoa content is loaded with nutrients that can positively affect your health.

go for a long walk

And reflect on all the positive things in your life right now. Whether it might be a special someone or something completely different.

listen to some soothing or happy tunes

I listen to many different music genres, so my Spotify is filled with playlists I’ve saved or created myself with music that fits with the mood I am in, on that specific day. But I can recommend this playlist filled with both old classics and new soothing sounds. Here are some of my favorites from that playlist:

Andy Shauf ⋅ The Magician

Here We Go Magic ⋅ Over The Ocean

Nick Drake ⋅ Northern Sky

Listen to the rest on Spotify here.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope my list will help you on your bad days, as it has helped me.
